Frame styles have been quite fine and minimalist for a while and this look remains popular, with many people opting for rimless frames such as our Superlite range. Extremely lightweight, rimless are incredibly comfortable and are perfect for people who don't like glasses as you can hardly see or feel them. They do, however, require a bit more care as they are more fragile without the support of a rim and certain prescriptions may be unsuitable. For cosmetic reasons we would always recommend a reflection free coating on a rimless frame.

You can have a frame that is light and understated without going for a rimless style. Pale pastel colours such as blue, pink or lilac, can look more neutral than more traditional golds and silvers. A supra frame, which has a rim at the top and nothing underneath, can provide a light look but with some definition to it and a little more durability than a rimless frame. Ranges such as Laura Ashley and Hush Puppies provide plenty of these easy wearing styles.

Fashions are getting bolder with stronger colours and heavier, or more detailed, looking frames for  women. Bold solid colours such as red, white or pink, but also more traditional black or tortoiseshell in plastic frames or heavier looking metals will really make a statement for the confident or adventurous wearer. Many women's frames, such as the Nina Ricci range, are beautifully ornate with decoration on the sides in the form of crystals or elaborate patterns on the arms.

A bolder look for men will usually involve less use of detailing and colour but bold solid styles are very much in fashion. Men's frames will generally be traditional gunmetals, browns, or silvers, golds less so,but if there is a splash of colour it may be down the side. An angular shape with a heavy brow and side but finer underneath can make a dramatic look.

"Pure" round or oval shapes are notable by their absence, although there are many styles for men and women that are just off oval or a rounded off square or rectangular shape, and these shapes are popular as they will give a soft look without looking "owlish" as pure rounds or ovals can. More rigid angular shapes are currently fashionable for men and women. For men the squarer shape will give a strong masculine look for women a hard shape will often be offset and given femininity by soft colours or patterns.
